Clothes Optional Vintage
2918 N. Clark St.
Chicago, Ill.

Madness, slickness, wit, and nature rolled into one ungodly art show. Art by Max Kauffman, Mike Gallegos, Yancy Crawford, and Chris Milhousen at Clothes Optional Vintage.

I've wanted to do a show in Chicago again for sometime, and to get to curate as well as participate in a show...well that is icing on the proverbial cake. This will be my first showing in the windy city in several years and I for one am hyped.

Opens the 6th, from 6 'til late in the evening. Beverages by PBR, and music by a rotating cast of characters throughout the evening. 25% off clothes the night of the opening!

Mike is an amazing gent from Colorado who I teamed up with for a show earlier in the year, and he was actually the point of intro to the space. One of his owls was at Clothes Optional this summer... when can one pass up the chance to see a homie rock his work in another state?

Yancy is a dear friend from my hometown of South Bend, and is basically way too talented for his own good. He's also the most humble person I know, and can play a mean guitar lick while schooling the youth of tomorrow. Simultaneously!

Chris is good...and I mean good.

The show is up for two months. For more info, please contact Clothes Optional Vintage at (773) 296-6630 or http://www.myspace.com/clothesoptionalchicago.

Pony Club and Hairy Beasts opening tonight!

Dudes,
hey. OPening tonight in PDX is 'Colors'(not sure of thats the title) at POny Club. Great concept, only 1 color, and black/white are allowed. Fun challenge for sure. You can see my pieces for that on flickr......

and also opening here in Denver is the 'Hairy Beast show' curated by Jamos, who is himself quite the hairy beast. I was lucky enough to sneak a piece in there, which is this dude here-

Come out if youre in the area, and take a gander. Next weekend is the opening of Suite 100's 'Mecha Organica' in Seattle which should be pretty epical. 2 pieces there, and a collab with Phonetic Control- tittays. After that, a couple big shows to end the year, and some craziness for next year tba. Hollers,
M

Metal action

Literally, and figuratively.

For the NIghtmare Affair

tentatively, 'Firmly Planted' (if you have more clever ideas, Im all ears)
and a new piece, for a show 'Mecha Organica' at Suite 100 out in Seattle.
Slightly sad, I had wanted to use the title 'Tetris Organica' for a show for a while, but now I will have to change that. But regardless, pretty excited.

Interview over at Spraygraphic

Hey webheads,
just got an interview over at Spraygraphic, go check it out and let me know the level of lameness/unlameness contained within.
If you;re in Denver, theres an interesting show opening at TOSA(near the Denver park) focusing on politics that I'll have a few things in. I won't be there though, as I'll be doing some live painting during the Post's Underground Music Fest- I should be at 3 Kings, the lineup there is looking hot.
New shows in new places, all(should be a bit of a challenge) in NOV
Mecha/ORganica at Suite 100 Seattle

mini show Double Punch, San Fran
thanks for looking!

Plaid Panda closing party situation

Hello Denvah,
Plaid Panda comes down next week, but not without a little more fun. This Friday at Icelantic there will be a closing reception from 7-10 pm. There will be refreshments, and the wonderful sounds of Tangible Stereo, who rock the mic rather hard. They'll be playing from 8:30 to 10. Come out if you can, and if not the show will be up for a few more days next week, until the gallery has their next 1st Friday on the 1st. Thanks bunches.

Cheers,
Max

Plaid Panda part deux- more to gander at

Few more previews with the show coming up very quickly- this Friday! I hung the show last week, and it looks fantastic. I did a small install with a nod to the analog, and everyone's varying styles go together really well on the walls.

Illustration Friday

Just found this site a week or so ago, so I thought I'd throw my hat into the ring.
'Owl Tells a Tale/Music Struck Down'
This piece was part of a show I did in Phoenix focusing on music;influences, songs and the idea of a golden age of music(go team analog). Throughout the show I had little images of this trumpet bird representing music; so here is an owl telling about music's fall(and eventual recovery).
Made with acrylic, India ink, watercolor, and pen and ink.
